BRANDON JONES SCORES TOP-15 FINISH IN NASCAR K&N PRO SERIES EAST DEBUT AT GREENVILLE PICKENS SPEEDWAY
> DENVER, NC (October 30, 2012) - Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) development driver Brandon Jones returned to Greenville (S.C.) Pickens Speedway on Saturday afternoon to make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut. After rain washed out the schedule Labor Day, Jones returned to the half-mile semi-banked oval for the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 140.
Since the original Labor Day qualifying session was canceled due to rain, the field was set according to the rule book leaving Jones to roll off in the 21st position without any points in the K&N Pro Series East.
Saturday's abbreviated schedule included just one 60-minute practice session. With the 11th fastest car in practice, the No. 33 team knew Jones could make a charge to the front of the field. By lap 30, Jones had picked up five positions to be scored in 16th place. He then picked up another five spots during the next 20 laps to be scored 11th by lap 50. By lap 60, Jones had broken into the top 10 where he remained until late in the race.
Competing for position against some of the most-recognized names of up-and-coming stock car stars, Jones battled hard to gain and hold position. Racing hard through turns one and two, Jones spun coming off turn one to bring out the caution flag on lap 125. Without any damage, the fifteen-year-old driver deftly regained control and continued his charge toward the front of the field.
As the laps dwindled down, the racing action heated up bringing out the caution flag three times in the final 15 laps. As a result, a green-white-checkered finish was slated to determine the winner of the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 140. On the white flag lap, Jones was running sixth when he was tagged from behind and spun coming off turn two. Meanwhile, a multi-car pile-up on the front stretch prompted series officials to call the event preventing Jones and others from crossing the finish line. Jones was credited with a 14th-place finish after completing 145 of 146 laps.
"I've had so much fun this year racing for Eddie Sharp Racing," commented Jones. "The ESR guys built awesome race cars and we've been competitive most everywhere that we've raced. It was really cool to make my NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut this weekend. We had a great car and were able to log laps inside the top 10. I'm looking forward to racing in a few more of these races again next year."
Jones enters this weekend's UARA-STARS Series season finale at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway ranked fifth in the championship point standings. The weekend will kick off with practice and qualifying followed by a pit party/autograph session on the track's front stretch on Friday, Nov. 2. On Saturday, Nov. 3, the schedule begins with driver introductions for the UARA-STARS Series at 11:30 a.m. followed by the series' 75-lap season finale. Next, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will have 100-lap race, followed by a 75-lap race for the Kimmel Street Stock Series. Grandstand admission is free for Friday's events, and tickets start at just $20 for Saturday's races. Tickets for kids 12 and under are half-price. |

RAIN POSTPONES BRANDON JONES' NASCAR K&N PRO SERIES EAST DEBUT
Weather disappoints young ESR Development Driver at Greenville-Pickens Speedway
> DENVER, NC (September 4, 2012) -Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) development driver Brandon Jones' NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut was cancelled this afternoon as rain suspended track activity at Greenville (S.C.) Pickens Speedway. After posting speeds inside the top 20 during both practice sessions, Jones and his No. 33 ESR team were ready to race. A short rain storm washed out qualifying. Following an attempt to dry the track, a heavier rain storm cancelled the remainder of the evening.
Jones will attempt to make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series debut on October 27 when the series returns to Greenville Pickens Speedway to make up the rain-cancelled event.
"I'm disappointed that we didn't get to race tonight, but at the same time, it's probably better for us," commented Jones. "With qualifying rained out, the field was going to line up by points, which would have placed us at the back of the pack. Now that everything was postponed, we'll be able to qualify before we go racing in October. I was really happy with my ESR Chevrolet during our test session and today's practices-I'm definitely looking forward to coming back here next month to make my K&N Series debut."

ESR Development Driver to Make K&N Pro Series East Debut on Labor Day
> DENVER, NC (August 29, 2012) -Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) development driver Brandon Jones will make his first appearance in a NASCAR-sanctioned event when he makes his debut in the K&N Pro Series East on September 3 at Greenville (S.C.) Pickens Speedway. Weeks after winning his first United Auto Racing Association (UARA) STARS Series race at Concord (N.C.) Speedway, 15-year-old Jones will take the next step up the racing ladder as he competes in the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 140 at the historic half-mile speedway on Labor Day evening.
"I can't wait to race at Greenville Pickens Speedway this weekend," commented Jones. "From getting my first UARA win to making my K&N Pro Series debut, this year has been awesome. All the guys at Eddie Sharp Racing have done a great job all season giving me the equipment that I need to run competitively week after week at all the levels in which we've competed. The K&N Series is super competitive and will be challenging, but I'm excited and ready to take another step in my racing career. There are a lot of talented drivers on the entry list and it's sure to be tough race, but I have confidence that me and my No. 33 ESR team are ready to take on this challenge."
Jones joined ESR in January 2012 after securing track championships in the pro truck division at Lanier (Ga.) Speedway and Gresham (Ga.) Motorsports Park in 2011. In addition to running select super late model and pro late model events across the Southeast, Jones has been competing for the Rookie of the Year title in the UARA-STARS Series.
"We've had a really great season so far with Brandon," commented Eddie Sharp. "As an owner, it's been very exciting and rewarding for me to watch Brandon grow as a driver and find success as he moves up the ranks. We know Brandon is a talented racecar driver, and we're really looking forward to seeing what he can do this weekend at Greenville Pickens Speedway."
Race day for the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 140 will kick off with two 45-minute practice sessions (11 a.m. ET and 12:15 p.m. ET), followed by qualifying at 4 p.m. and a driver autograph session at 4:45 p.m. ET on Labor Day. The day will culminate with the running of the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 140; the field will take the green flag at 6 p.m. ET on Monday, September 3rd.
