GALLAHER FINISHES 15TH IN THE FALL BRAWL AT HICKORY (N.C.) SPEEDWAY
No. 6 ESR Development Chevrolet Impala
> DENVER, NC (September 30, 2012) - Will Gallaher and his No. 6 Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) team finished 15th in the Annual Pepsi Fall Brawl presented by Gold King on Saturday night at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway. The young driver overcame an early spin to finish inside the top 15 in the biggest late model event of the season at the historic 0.363-mile oval.
During a wet weekend, Gallaher and his ESR team got in minimal practice time as each session was washed out after just a few laps. Unable to make a mock run, the No. 6 Chevrolet qualified 20th for the 200-lap event.
Starting the Annual Pepsi Fall Brawl on a green track, Gallaher had raced inside the top 20 before being spun by another competitor. The contact forced Gallaher down pit road for repairs and resulted in the driver losing two laps to the leader. With a fast car and determination, the No. 6 ESR team fought back to return to the lead lap of competition.
With a long green flag run to close out the Fall Brawl, Gallaher was passed by the leader on the track but went on to score a 15th-place finish.
"The rain really hurt us this weekend," commented Gallaher. "With a really short practice run on Friday, we weren't able to make any adjustments and we had to qualify what we unloaded with. We were making decent progress before we spun, but the team did a good job getting it right and we were able to get two laps back. The only thing to do now is regroup and head to Anderson this upcoming weekend."
Gallaher will climb back in the cockpit for the United Auto Racing Association (UARA) STARS Series event at Anderson (S.C.) Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 6.
