WILL GALLAHER COMES HOME 14TH AT CARAWAY (N.C.) SPEEDWAY
No. 6 ESR Development Chevrolet Impala
DENVER, NC (July 30, 2012) - Kicking off a triple-header for the United Auto
Racing Association (UARA) STARS Series, Will Gallaher and the No. 6 Eddie
Sharp Racing (ESR) team took on Caraway (N.C.) Speedway this weekend for the
Racing Electronics 150. In just his first start at the historic 0.455-mile
oval, Gallaher raced to a 14th place finish.
Gallaher and his ESR crew visited Caraway Speedway for a shakedown session
in their No. 6 Chevrolet earlier in the week. The team worked through a
variety of setup options throughout the two practice sessions as Gallaher
worked to learn his line around the track. With the addition of former late
model standout Davin Scites to their team, the No. 6 crew had Scites climb
behind the wheel of their Chevrolet for a few laps during final practice to
help assess the car's setup and help provide some guidance to the rookie
driver.
Gallaher picked up over a half-second from practice to qualifying to roll
off in the 17th position for the Racing Electronics 150. Throughout the
course of the 150-lap event, Gallaher ran smooth, fast laps without
incident. After getting passed by the leader during a long green-flag run,
Gallaher settled in behind the leader working his way through traffic to
earn the free pass when the caution flag was finally displayed. Back on the
lead lap of competition, Gallaher continued to log competitive laps to
maintain his position in the lead pack. By the conclusion of the Racing
Electronics 150, Gallaher was scored in the 13th position.
"The whole team did a really good job this weekend working through the
excessive heat and battling a tight car," commented Gallaher. "Also, I
would like to thank Cale Gale for helping out and welcome David Scites to
the team. It's going to be a fast-paced couple of weeks coming up, but I
think the whole ESR team is ready."
| Gallaher will climb back behind the wheel of the No. 6 ESR Chevrolet for the UARA-STARS Series' City Chevrolet 150 at Concord (N.C.) Speedway on Saturday, August 4th. |
