Cale Gale Chicagoland Race Report: Gale Finishes Sixth

No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Silverado News and Notes

Cale Gale

> NOTES:
Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team brought home their third top-10 finish of the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season on Saturday night at Chicagoland (Ill.) Speedway. Gale drove a very smart race and worked closely with the Rheem team to develop a strategy that would position them near the front of the field at the conclusion of the event. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender crossed the finish line in the sixth position making him the highest finishing rookie in the American Ethanol 225.

Gale rolled off sixth for the 150-lap race in the windy city. With an extremely fast truck, Gale was able to hold on to a position inside the top eight despite being loose in the center of the corner during the opening run. With only two sets of sticker tires and track position at a premium, the Rheem team knew they needed to carefully plan their strategy throughout the race. Crew chief Jerry Baxter made the decision to take the first set of sticker tires during a green-flag stop on lap 45.

Gale continued to battle a loose race truck throughout the opening 100 laps visiting pit road during the lap 72 caution and again during the lap 100 caution. The Rheem team put their final set of sticker tires on their Chevrolet during the pit stop on lap 100, and made a track bar and spring rubber adjustment to help tighten up their Silverado. The changes made Gale's Rheem Chevrolet race the way he needed and the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender began his march to the front. Gale picked up six positions during the final 30 laps to cross the finish line in the sixth position.

"I'm really happy with our finish tonight; the Rheem team put in a lot of time to prepare our Chevrolet for Chicagoland Speedway and I drove a hard race tonight," commented Gale. "We battled with a loose truck early in the race, but we never gave up. Jerry made some good changes during that final pit stop, and we were able to drive through the field. It's really important to have momentum on your side with all the races coming up over the next few weeks; hopefully we'll be able to follow this up with another strong run in the Rheem Chevrolet at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway."

After a short break with one weekend off, the NCWTS will be back in action at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway on Saturday, August 4th. Live coverage of the Pocono Mountains 125 will begin at 12:30 p.m. ET on SPEED, MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90. As always, fans can visit www.teamesr.com, www.twitter.com/teamesr, or www.facebook.com/TeamESR for the latest news and updates about Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Silverado team.

Cale Gale Chicagoland FINAL Practice: Gale Confident, Ready For Qualifying

No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Silverado News and Notes

> NOTES:
There were no incidents involving the No. 6 or 33 entries during the final practice session.

Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team were very pleased with their Chevrolet Silverado throughout the final practice session. Knowing that their first two laps would be the quickest of the session, the Rheem team tried to lay out their fast lap just as the session began. Unfortunately another truck broke Gale's momentum on the lap, forcing him down the speed chart to the 15th position. The Rheem team continued to make a few more shock and spring changes to ensure that they have the best package going into tomorrow's qualifying session and 225-mile race. Gale completed 28 laps during the session, consistently laying down competitive lap times with the Rheem Chevrolet.

> QUOTES:
Cale Gale, No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet: "Jerry Baxter and all the guys have done such a great job preparing our Rheem Chevrolet for the race at Chicagoland Speedway. They rebuilt the whole truck since the last time we raced it, and it is one of the best trucks that I've ever had at a mile-and-a-half track. We spent some time during this practice session working on spring and shock combinations. Unfortunately we weren't able to lay down a fast lap like we planned, but I think everyone will see just how strong our Rheem Chevrolet is during the race tomorrow night."

> TV COVERAGE:
Tune in to SPEED at 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon for qualifying from Chicagoland Speedway. Live coverage of the American Ethanol 225 from The Windy City will be broadcast on SPEED, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 21.

Cale Gale Chicagoland FIRST Practice: Gale Fourth Fastest

No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Silverado News and Notes

> NOTES:
There were no incidents involving the No. 6 or 33 entries during the opening practice session.

Cale Gale and the No. 33 Rheem team were extremely pleased with their Chevrolet throughout the opening practice session at Chicagoland Speedway. The Rheem Chevrolet unloaded fast and Gale maintained a position inside the top-10 practice speeds all afternoon. Throughout the session, the Rheem team tried a few different shock and spring changes to make sure that their Chevrolet was handling as well as possible. Before the end of the session, the Rheem team cooled their Silverado down for a mock qualifying run. Gale posted a 31.212-second lap, which placed him fourth on the chart for the opening practice session at Chicagoland Speedway.

QUOTES:
Cale Gale, No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet: "I really like our Rheem Chevrolet for the race at the Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. It's probably the best truck that I've had at a mile-and-a-half track yet--we have it handling really well and rotating through the corners nicely. We were good with both sticker tires and old tires, and were able to keep it wide open on both ends of the track. We got a mock qualifying run in before the end of the session. The Rheem Chevrolet was just a little bit loose, but now we know what we need to do for tomorrow's qualifying session. I'm really looking forward to the race tomorrow night."

No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Silverado News and Notes

> Back to "The Windy City"...Cale Gale will make his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start at Chicagoland (Ill.) Speedway this weekend in the American Ethanol 225. In fact, Gale's only race experience on the intermediate track came in 2006 during a NASCAR Nationwide Series event. While driving for Phoenix Racing, the event was just the second race in Gale's Nationwide Series career. More recently, Gale completed a test session at the mile-and-a-half track in 2008.

> Crew Members Racing Near Home... Joey Forgette, a member of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet team, will have the support of his friends and family at the track this weekend as the NCWTS makes a stop back in the Midwest. Forgette, who was born in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and raised in Rochester, Ill., will be able to split the difference between his two hometowns to race in the middle at Chicagoland Speedway. Forgette joined Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) for the 2012 season to work full-time as a mechanic on the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet. The 2001 graduate of Rochester High School, which is located just outside Springfield, Ill., is also the front tire changer for Gale and the Rheem team.

> Kicking the Race Season in High Gear... As the summer heats up, so does the NCWTS schedule. The race at Chicagoland Speedway will mark race two of a 10 race stretch over 13 weeks for the series.
Gale Helps Find the "Cure for the Common Summer" at the NASCAR Hall of Fame... Gale will join four other NCWTS drivers at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Sunday, July 29th, to help promote the hall through the "Cure for the Common Summer" campaign. From 1:00-2:30 p.m. Gale will be available to meet fans, sign autographs, take photos, and a few lucky fans will even get to race against the drivers in iRacing simulators. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is located in the heart of downtown Charlotte at 400 East Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Charlotte, N.C., and is open daily 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Normal admission fees apply for this event.

> Battling for Points... Gale continues to hold his ground in both the NCWTS championship points battle and the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings. With two top-10 finishes this season, Gale is solidly within the top 15 in drivers points, ranking 14th, and ranks 16th in the owner point standings. Gale, currently ranked second, trails Ty Dillon in the Rookie of the Year point standings.

From the Driver's Seat: Cale Gale Quotes...

On racing at Chicagoland Speedway: ""I'm looking forward to getting on track with the Rheem Chevrolet this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. The track is similar to Kansas Speedway, but has a little more banking. It's been awhile since I've been to Chicagoland. As I remember, there's a little bump in three and four that you have to look out for. The back straightaway is actually rounded, so you never actually get straight on it. Overall, Chicagoland Speedway is a really fun track. The Rheem team has been working really hard on updating our Chevy Silverado for the race this weekend, and we're all excited to bring it out on the track. We've had strong runs the last couple of weeks; we just haven't been able to get the finish. Hopefully we will change that this weekend with our No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet."

From the Pit Box: Crew Chief Jerry Baxter Quotes...

The keys to success at Chicagoland Speedway: "Chicagoland Speedway is another mile-and-a-half track where downforce is very important. While preparing for the race, we did everything we could to get the best downforce possible on our Rheem Chevrolet. Like every week, track position is going to be very important there. We'll need to factor track position in to all the decisions we make during the race when it comes to pit strategy, and our Rheem team will need to have flawless stops so we don't give up any positions on pit road."

On getting ready to race at Chicago: We're taking truck No. 51 to Chicago this weekend. It's the same truck that we ran at Texas Motor Speedway last month. Cale was really comfortable in the truck, we were fast all weekend and finished eighth with this Rheem Chevrolet chassis the last time we raced it in Texas. Since that race, we stripped the whole truck, completely overhauled it, and rebuilt it tip to tip trying to make it better. We're really looking forward to getting on track this weekend with the Rheem Chevrolet to see how our hard work pays off."
