LATE-RACE ACCIDENT RELEGATES JONES TO A 13TH-PLACE FINISH AT GRESHAM

> DENVER, N.C. (May 14, 2012) - Brandon Jones continued his 2012 program with Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) competing in a super late model at Gresham (Ga.) Motorsports Park on Friday night. The 15-year-old from Atlanta, Ga. returned to the Georgia short track for the first time since winning the 2011 Track Championship in the truck division. With a fast car and a competitive run, Jones was scored in the seventh position when he was collected in a late-race accident that sent him hard in to the inside retaining wall. Fortunately, the driver was able to walk away unharmed, but was relegated to a 13th-place finish.

Jones and the No. 33 ESR team unloaded at Gresham Motorsports Park on Friday for a four-hour practice session at "Georgia's Fastest Short Track." The team worked on a setup that placed them among the fastest cars on the track before trying a few other options on Saturday morning. On Saturday afternoon, Jones laid down a 16.843-second lap-his fastest of the weekend-to qualify in the ninth position.

Throughout the race, Jones showed the strength of his No. 33 Chevrolet continually holding his ground inside the top 10 and picking up positions on the half-mile speedway. The driver appeared poised for a top-five finish, but one lap after a late-race restart on lap 85, Jones was coming down the front stretch when another competitor lost control of his racecar, making impact with the front end of Jones' No. 33 Chevrolet Impala. The contact sent him slightly airborne and hard in to the inside retaining wall. With his car damaged beyond repair, Jones and the No. 33 ESR team retired from the event and were credited with a 13th-place finish in the Racing Radios 100.

"We had a great night at Gresham Motorsports Park this weekend until the wreck near the end of the race," commented Brandon Jones following the Racing Radios 100 at Gresham Motorsports Park. "My ESR team made several adjustments to the car on Friday in practice and then again on Saturday morning. The car was fast in qualifying and handled great in the race. I ran in the top 10 all night and definitely had a top five car. This race was a great tune-up for The World Crown at Gresham on July 4th. I have had success there in the past and now have even more confidence for the next race in the Super Late Model."

Brandon Jones will spend the next few weeks focusing on the United Auto Racing Association (UARA) STARS upcoming race at Anderson (S.C.) Speedway on Friday, June 1st. The 150-lap race is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
